Egyptian and Jordanian Denial Reflects Countries' Keenness to Avoid Direct Syrian Affairs Intervention Despite Dangerous Rapid Field Developments

Egypt, following Jordan, immediately denounced Wall Street Journal's report about Egyptian officials urging Syrian regime president to leave country and establish government outside Syria.
Egyptian Foreign Ministry statement clarified information completely false, demanding media platforms verify published information accuracy.
Egyptian Foreign Ministry alerted citizens in Syria to exercise maximum caution, avoid tension areas, and follow relevant Syrian authorities' instructions.
Urged avoiding Syria travel under current circumstances, maintaining continuous contact with Egyptian Embassy in Damascus, given ongoing developments and escalating confrontations in several areas.
Jordanian Embassy in Washington presented similar position, responding to Isabel Coles' Wall Street Journal article, emphasizing Friday evening that "claiming Jordanian officials urged Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to leave country and form exile government is completely baseless and false."
Expressed surprise stating: "We regret such respected media outlet publishing unconfirmed, misleading information without proper fact verification," adding "Wall Street Journal didn't contact us to verify this claim, serious breach of journalistic standards."
Statement concluded: "We categorically reject this slander, demand Wall Street Journal management issue immediate correction," coinciding with continued military operations by HTS and allies since last week against Syrian regime forces, controlling Aleppo, Idlib, and Hama.
Armed groups extended control over entire northern Homs countryside, battles resulting in over 800 deaths according to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, while factions announced eliminating over 65 Syrian regime army personnel and officers.
