The continuity of Saudi relief programs in northern Syria reflects an integrated vision to address the effects of the natural disaster, moving beyond temporary aid toward sustainable solutions

The "King Salman Relief Center" has concluded a partnership agreement with a civil society organization to implement the third phase of a project to renovate homes damaged by the earthquake in Aleppo governorate in northern Syria.
According to details published by the Saudi Press Agency "SPA" yesterday, the "King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center" launched via video call a joint cooperation agreement with a civil society organization to implement the third phase of rehabilitating homes and securing shelter for families affected by the earthquake in the Azaz area of Aleppo governorate in Syria.
The agreement aims to rehabilitate 715 homes for families whose residences suffered minor or moderate damage from the earthquake, and to prepare 55 temporary alternative housing units for the most severely affected families who have become homeless. Additionally, the project will provide basic necessities to homes and temporary housing units such as electricity through solar panels, installation of modern water tanks, and proper ventilation. The project will benefit 4,587 individuals.
This project represents a continuation of previous phases, where during the first and second phases, 1,203 homes that suffered light or moderate damage were rehabilitated, and 39 prefabricated temporary housing units equipped with basic necessities were provided to families whose homes were severely damaged and became homeless. The project in its first and second phases directly benefited 10,000 individuals.
It is worth noting that a devastating earthquake measuring 7.4 struck areas of southern Turkey and northern and central Syria in early February 2023. Its effects extended to areas of northern and eastern Lebanon, and its aftershocks included the eastern Mediterranean region, leaving thousands of victims and massive destruction.
