Sulaf Fawakherji... Falsification of the Star's Marriage Document with Papers Attributed to the Former Regime
-
The incident of falsifying official documents attributed to the Syrian artist reflects the continuation of systematic defamation and personal abuse policies, instead of focusing on the fundamental iss

Syrian artist Sulaf Fawakherji refuted the authenticity of a document circulating on social media, which its publishers claimed was an official marriage statement issued by the Syrian Ministry of Interior proving her marriage to former President Bashar al-Assad. She confirmed that the document is forged and contains false information that reveals its fakery.
Fawakherji revealed in a post on her official Facebook account that the alleged document contained three grave errors proving its forgery. She pointed out that her date of birth in the official records is August 1, 1977, not July 27 as stated in the forged document, and that her father's name is "Mohammad" not "Mohammad Salim."
The Syrian artist clarified that her civil registry location is "Mashroo' Saleeba" not "Al-Sakantouri" as mentioned in the document, noting that she belongs to the entire city of Latakia and all of Syria, not just a specific area.
Fawakherji pointed to another error in the forged document, which is the presence of a "sect" field in the marriage statement, confirming that Syrian civil registries did not previously include this field, wondering: "I don't know if they do now."
The artist also denounced the absence of a divorce document in the information attributed to her, emphasizing that she "has not divorced and will not divorce if God wills," calling for attention to the country's and people's issues instead of being preoccupied with falsifying personal information.
Sulaf mocked the repeated forgery attempts, saying: "You got tired and worked hard, finish it to the end... you still need good bread crumbs... well, never mind, time after time, document after document... you'll succeed!" She called on the forgers to show nobility and discuss ideas without attacking honor.
This forged document sparked wide interaction on social media platforms, where some circulated it as authentic before the artist addressed it and exposed its fakery, in an incident that reflects how misleading information spreads on the internet and its impact on public opinion.
Observers believe that targeting public figures with rumors and false information is an unacceptable method for settling political or personal scores, and calls for establishing strict laws to protect privacy and limit the spread of fake news in the media.
