The recent Israeli escalation against Lebanon, represented by a series of intensive air raids on areas in the south of the country, has sparked a wave of criticism and questions about the position of Hezbollah's traditional allies, primarily Iran and Syria.

Lebanese writer and media activist Hadi Mourad, director of the "Al-Haqiqa" news site and considered to be aligned with the Shiite current, expressed his strong dissatisfaction with the suspicious silence towards this aggression.

In a press interview, Mourad questioned: "Where is Iran and the lie about defending us? Why are they negotiating on our behalf, and have sold us in the slave market for a temporary marriage with the devil, as they say?" He also directed harsh criticism at the Syrian regime, asking: "Where is Bashar al-Assad, for whom we killed our youth? Why hasn't he cared about what's happening to us, even with a single word?"

In a related context, reports issued by the Lebanese Civil Defense Observatory stated that the recent Israeli raids targeted multiple areas in southern Lebanon, causing severe material damage to infrastructure and civilian property.

On the other hand, sources in the Israeli army, according to what was reported by "Haaretz" newspaper, confirmed that the raids come within the framework of "responding to security threats" emanating from Lebanese territory, indicating the continuation of military operations "to protect the northern borders."

These developments come at a time when the United States and its allies in the region are seeking to calm tensions and avoid the region sliding into a comprehensive confrontation.

An official at the US State Department, asking not to be identified, stated that Washington "is closely monitoring the situation and calls on all parties to exercise restraint."

The dangerous escalation poses significant challenges for Lebanon, in light of the severe economic and political crisis the country is experiencing. Analysts believe that the continuation of Israeli raids could lead to wide-ranging regional repercussions, necessitating urgent international action to stop the escalation and protect civilians.
