Agreement Represents Strategic Shift in Lebanese Scene with Hezbollah's Southern Withdrawal and Lebanese Army Deployment Under International Supervision
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi welcomed the resistance-Israel truce agreement, affirming Iran maintains right to respond to last month's Israeli strikes while monitoring regional developments including Lebanon ceasefire.
He told media in Lisbon that Iran welcomes yesterday's agreement, hoping for permanent ceasefire, Reuters reported.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqai earlier welcomed "end of Israeli aggression" on Lebanon.
He added Tehran "confirms steadfast support for Lebanon - government, people, and resistance," referring to Hezbollah's recent heavy casualties.
Israel conducted assassinations since September, peaking with Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah's targeting in Haret Hreik, September 27.
US-brokered agreement includes two-month military operations suspension, Hezbollah's southern withdrawal, Lebanese Army deployment.
Agreement requires gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese border villages under US-led international committee supervision.
Confrontations began year ago "supporting Gaza." Israeli operations intensified over two months, targeting Beirut's southern suburbs, south, and eastern Bekaa.
Lebanese civilian casualties reached about 4,000, with 1.2 million displaced amid widespread destruction.
