Walid Jumblatt Arrives in Damascus Amid Regional Changes
وليد جنبلاط

The former president of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, arrived at the People's Palace in Damascus accompanied by a high-level Lebanese delegation, which included Wael Abou Faour, Sami Abou Muna, and Taymour Jumblatt.

This visit comes as part of Arab and Western diplomatic efforts following the changes that have occurred within Bashar al-Assad's regime. During his visit, Jumblatt is scheduled to meet with the head of the General Administration, Ahmad al-Sharah, in a move that reflects the current political maneuvers in the region, according to a reporter from Syria Television.

It is noteworthy that Jumblatt's last visit to Damascus was in March 2010, when he met then-Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, in an effort to ease relations between Jumblatt and the regime after a period of political tension. Jumblatt took opposing positions toward the regime following the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in 2005, which deepened the divide between the two sides.
