France takes measures to close 6 mosques and dissolve associations

The France en Arabe reported according to AFP, French Interior Minister Gérald Moussa Darmanin revealed that "the government has initiated measures to close 6 mosques and dissolve a number of associations because of promotion of extremist Islam."

In an interview with "Le Figaro", Gérald Darmanin indicated that "a third of the 89 places of worship suspected of being extremist and registered in the lists of the intelligence services, have been monitored since November 2020," noting that the government has launched measures to close six of them, and that these mosques are distributed over five French provinces.

Darmanin also confirmed that "the security services, as part of their fight against Islamic "separatism", have carried out since 2017, about 24,000 searches and 650 closures of places frequented by extremist."

In this context, the Minister of Interior announced that he would "request the dissolution of both the Islamic publishing house "Nawa" and the "Black African Defense League", pointing out that "Nawa", headquartered in Aries, "incites the extermination of Jews and stoning homosexuals."

He also made it clear that he would request the dissolution of the "Black African Defense League", which appeared during a demonstration against police violence that it organized in June 2020 in front of the United States Embassy in Paris.

According to the French Interior Minister, the Black African Defense League "advocates hatred and racial discrimination," adding, "Next year, there will be 10 other associations subjected to dissolution procedures, including four associations starting next month.”

He noted that the “republican commitment contract” stipulated in the anti-“separatist” law, which links associations' access to government subsidies to the extent of their respect for republican values, will enter into force in January. 2022".

He stated that he had asked the governors to prevent "any change to the residence permit of an imam delegated" from a foreign country.

It should be noted that on September 24, the French Council of State approved the government's decision to dissolve the "Anti-Islamophobia Gathering in France" and "Al-Baraka City".
