International Criminal Court Issues Arrest Warrants Against Netanyahu, Galant, and Hamas Leader

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has recently issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Minister of Defense Yoav Galant, as well as an additional warrant for Mohammed Deif, the commander of Hamas' military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, also known as Ibrahim al-Masri, on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The court clarified that it deems it "unnecessary" for Israel to accept its jurisdiction, based on "reasonable grounds to believe that they have committed war crimes." The ICC's statement indicated that there is evidence to suggest Netanyahu and Galant oversaw attacks against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
The court noted that the charges against Netanyahu and Galant include the use of starvation as a weapon of war, murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts.
In a separate statement, the ICC also announced the issuance of an arrest warrant for Mohammed Deif, who is subject to international arrest, held responsible for executing the alleged crimes. The court stated that it reached a unanimous decision to issue the arrest warrant "due to alleged crimes against humanity and war crimes committed on the territory of Israel and Palestine since October 7, 2023, at least."
ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan was among the judges who called for an urgent resolution regarding the arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Galant, emphasizing the court's right to prosecute Israeli citizens.
Both the coalition and the opposition within Israel condemned the ICC's issuance of arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Galant, describing it as "an anti-Semitic act targeting Israel and an unforgivable mistake."
