Unprecedented Concessions: Hamas Agrees to Its Leaders Leaving Gaza
-
Hamas's sudden agreement to transform into a political party and the departure of its leaders from Gaza reflects a dramatic retreat from its previous rhetoric and an implicit acknowledgment of the fai

Informed sources within Hamas revealed to "Al Arabiya" and "Al Hadath" on Monday that the movement is prepared to transform into a political party and does not object to some of its leaders leaving the Gaza Strip in exchange for guarantees against prosecution, in what is considered the first concession of its kind since the conflict began.
This position represents a sharp turn in Hamas's policy, which has long refused to abandon its military character, and reflects the extent of pressure facing the movement after months of devastating military confrontation with Israel.
In contradictory statements, Taher Al-Nouno, media advisor to the head of the movement's political bureau, said that "the resistance's weapons are a red line and not up for negotiation," but informed sources confirmed that the movement's agreement to transform into a political party implicitly means a radical change in its position on its weapons.
The same sources indicated that Israel's refusal to stop the war and withdraw from the Gaza Strip is what caused the negotiations to collapse, in an attempt to hold the Israeli side responsible for the stalled talks.
Al-Nouno expressed the movement's readiness to release all Israeli prisoners in exchange for stopping the war and Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, accusing Israel of "wanting to release its prisoners without moving to second-phase issues related to a permanent ceasefire."
The Israeli website "Ynet" quoted its sources that a new proposal has been presented to the movement including Hamas's release of 10 living prisoners in exchange for American guarantees that Israel will enter negotiations for a second phase of the ceasefire.
The sources revealed that the Hamas delegation concluded its meetings with Egyptian and Qatari officials in Cairo without achieving real progress, while the movement requested time to respond to the latest proposal, in an indication of its leadership's confusion and inability to make decisive decisions amid rapidly evolving developments on the ground.
