Volodymyr Zelensky says Ukraine forces recaptured places near Kharkiv

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday (Sep 7) that Kyiv troops have recaptured from Russian forces several settlements in the Kharkiv region in the country’s northeast.
“This week we have good news from Kharkiv region,” Zelenskyy said in his daily address, adding that “now is not the right time to name those settlements, where the Ukrainian flag has returned”.
Observers have reported a breakthrough by Ukrainian forces in the Kharkiv region in recent days, with no official confirmation of the potential gains.
Ukraine has been waging a counter-offensive in the south of the country since last week, where it also claimed recapturing several villages.
Kharkiv region has been partly occupied by Russian troops since the start of the invasion launched on February 24.
This week we have good news from the Kharkiv region. Probably, you all have already seen reports about the activity of Ukrainian defenders. And I think every citizen feels proud of our warriors. It is a well-deserved pride, a right feeling. Now is not the time to name the settlements to which the Ukrainian flag returns. But it's time to say thank you to the 25th airborne brigade, the 92nd separate mechanized brigade and the 80th airborne assault brigade for their bravery and heroism shown during combat missions. I also express gratitude today to the 406th separate artillery brigade for the extremely successful hits in the areas where the occupiers are concentrated in the south of our country and to the 60th separate infantry brigade, which consistently advances our positions. Each success of our military in one direction or another changes the general situation along the entire frontline in favor of Ukraine. The more difficult it is for the occupiers, the more losses they have, the better the positions of our defenders in Donbas will be, the more reliable the defense of Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv and the cities of the Dnipropetrovsk region will be, the faster we will be able to liberate the Azov region and the entire south.

The city of the same name — the second largest in Ukraine — is regularly targeted by deadly bombardments, but the Russian troops have never managed to seize it.
Putin says Russia has gained, not lost, from intervening in Ukraine
In August, a report showed that Russia's total losses were about 43.000 soldiers.
“If almost 43,000 dead Russian soldiers do not convince the Russian leadership that they need to find a way out of the war,” Zelenskyy said, “then more fighting is needed, more results are needed to convince.”
