Asaad Al-Zoubi: The Decaying Echo of Baathism in an Era Demanding Dignity

The catastrophe lies not in the reproduction of the figures of the fallen regime with their names and military ranks, but in the fact that they return after all this rubble, speaking the language of revolution, while the heart of Baathism still beats within them, and their tongues reek of class, national, and sectarian hatred.
Asaad Al-Zoubi, this "Brigadier General" who has never been promoted in morals as he has been in ranks, has never been revolutionary, nor even oppositional; he is simply an echo of an authoritarian discourse recycled to be broadcast anew, this time from platforms that should be beacons of dignity rather than platforms of hatred.
He is one of the orphans of Baathism, indeed one of its limbs that has yet to be severed, a man whose consciousness was shaped in the corridors of intelligence agencies, raised in the school of racist nationalism that sees the Kurdish as merely an "intruder" and anyone non-Arab as an "enemy."
Were it not for the blood of Kurds spilled in Deir ez-Zor, Kobani, and Hasakah, this "puppet" would not dare to open his mouth, and his voice would not resonate on any platform.
But this is the curse of the Syrian revolution... As much as the Kurdish people aspire to build a shared homeland and genuine brotherhood with those who once tampered with their fortunes, they are repeatedly met with hatred, not partnership, and with animosity, not understanding.
Every time a Kurd extends his hand towards peace and reconciliation, he is not met with ideas or dialogue but with the sword and filthy rhetoric. Unfortunately, the Syrian revolution, which was supposed to be a gateway to liberation and dignity, has also been opened to the climbing scum—those who yesterday glorified Bashar al-Assad and prostrated themselves at the feet of the security agencies, and today assume the role of patriots, talking about "freedom," while at every moment they assassinate its meaning...
With a language of hatred, from platforms of animosity, and the swords of a fabricated history. Despite the fact that Asaad Al-Zoubi is neither a man of state, nor a patriot, nor even a person with a position; he had the opportunity to be something else. He could have, if he had chosen, to be a patriotic, honest, and decent human being.
Indeed, he might have been able to be a true friend to the Kurdish people and other non-Arab Syrian communities, to be the voice of reason in a moment of madness, the hand of understanding in a time of fragmentation, and to rise to the stature of a man who reconciles, not lashes out. Yet, he refused.
He chose to be the destructive voice, the voice of chronic hatred, and the gratuitous enmity devoid of history or morals. He chose to take his position in the front row of the chorus of destruction, fanning the flames of division and gnawing away at the remaining human relationships among the sons of one homeland.
How painful it is to have the opportunity to be human... and then choose to be a tool.
He is a man afflicted by the epidemic of hatred, harboring a deep-seated resentment toward all that does not resemble him, especially the Kurdish people. The people who have endured, fought, and faced ISIS did not do so to seek a favor from individuals like Asaad Al-Zoubi, but to protect the land on which they were born, before "Syria" itself was born as a fabricated entity at the Sykes-Picot table.
Asaad Al-Zoubi knows nothing of geography but the maps drawn by colonialists, and nothing of history but what the military has recorded at the orders of power. He forgets that the Kurdish people inhabit their historical land, the land of gods and prophets, and the mountains that have never bowed to gas or authority.
No matter how long arabization, forced displacement, and systematic appropriation of property last, and no matter how demographics are tampered with, the equation will not change. The Kurd who comes from any part of the world to Western Kurdistan does not enter it as a stranger but as a son returning to the embrace of the geography that bore him.
And just as a Syrian has the right to move across all parts of Syria, and an Iraqi can move throughout Iraq, a Kurd has the right to move freely throughout Kurdistan because it is their homeland fragmented by daggers, not by maps. The borders are artificial and will disappear, whether Al-Zoubi likes it or not. One day they will be erased, against his will, and against the will of anyone who carries hatred as their identity.
It is unfortunate that a platform in the Arabian Gulf—which is supposed to be a tributary of stability—has been abandoned to the likes of this rotten man, who carries within his ribs a dead heart that beats for nothing but fear of pluralism and freedom.
Therefore, we ask the wise leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, long known for its commitment to the honor of speech and the purity of the platform, to end the farce of this man called Asaad al-Zoubi and expel him from any platform attributed to its land, because he does not represent it, its authentic Arab depth, or its political ethics.
The persistence of this discordant voice, brimming with hatred and incitement, on platforms broadcast from within the Kingdom or under its auspices, is a direct insult to its reputation and a tarnish to its standing, not only in Syria, but in the eyes of free people throughout the region. Asaad al-Zoubi is a linguistic and moral epidemic that not only threatens the future of Syria as a tool for division and extremism, but also unjustly insults a generous country like Saudi Arabia, which has embraced the causes of Arabs and Muslims, rather than becoming a megaphone for his hatred and decadence.
Getting rid of this rhetoric serves not only the interests of the Kurdish people targeted by al-Zoubi, but also a broader Saudi project, intended to be just and inclusive, not tainted by the tongues of the old Ba'athist intelligence.
