Bogdanov Receives Extended Delegation from "Moscow Platform".. With New Members

The Russian meeting with the opposition reveals Moscow's efforts to present itself as a guarantor of political solution according to Resolution 2254 amid regional developments

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov met with an expanded delegation from the opposition "Moscow Platform," headed by Kadri Jamil and including new members.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry statement, the meeting addressed developments in the Syrian situation amid Middle East escalation, emphasizing the need to stop violence and prevent conflict spread to Syria.
Participants discussed ways to implement UN Resolution 2254, affirming Syria's sovereignty, territorial unity, and priority of Syrian-Syrian dialogue.
The platform briefed the Russian side on steps to expand its organizational base, following a hybrid meeting that brought together old and new members.
Participants adopted a new programmatic document updating the founding vision of the "Change and Liberation Front" issued in 2014.
The document emphasized the need to restore Syria's unity, end de facto division, and remove foreign forces, particularly Israeli occupation from the Golan.
The document considered full implementation of Resolution 2254 as the only way out of the crisis, through direct negotiations between the regime and opposition.
It rejected Western projects like the "step-for-step" plan and "changing regime behavior," considering them aimed at dividing Syria.
The document affirmed that Western sanctions targeted weakening Syria as a whole, calling for constitutional reform to redistribute powers between authorities.
It proposed a new relationship between centralization and decentralization ensuring strong central authority while granting broad powers to regions.
These developments come amid escalating disputes between various Syrian opposition spectrums, highlighted in their meetings last September.
