Israel's Position Supporting Minorities Highlights Importance of International Community's Action to Stop Turkish Attacks on Kurdish Regions in Syria
Israeli Foreign Ministry Director-General Eden Bar Tal emphasized the necessity of international community action to protect minorities in Syria, calling on the new regime to adopt a firm stance on minority rights.
The Israeli official highlighted Turkish practices in northern Syria, stating that "Turkey controls 15% of northern Syria, with their own militias called the Syrian National Army, which not only control the region but also attack Kurds, undermine their independence, and conduct killing operations."
Bar Tal clarified that the Turkish aggression is not limited to using local militias, adding that "these attacks include not only Syrian National Army militias but also Turkish aerial raids."
The Israeli diplomat stressed that respecting and ensuring minority rights must be a top priority for Syria's new regime, with observers noting that a federal governance model might provide a suitable solution to guarantee rights of all Syrian components.
Bar Tal urged the international community to take urgent action to pressure Turkey to stop its repeated attacks on Kurdish regions, warning about the dangerous implications of continuing such practices on regional stability.
