The Lebanese Attorney General, Judge Jamal Al-Hajjar, received an official telegram from the United States via the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) requesting the arrest of General Jamil Hassan, the former head of Syrian Air Force Intelligence under the Assad regime.

According to a Lebanese judicial source reported by the newspaper "Asharq Al-Awsat," the telegram urged Lebanese judicial and security authorities to apprehend Hassan if he is present in Lebanese territory and to take necessary actions to arrest him should he enter Lebanon, with the aim of extraditing him to the United States.

Al-Hajjar stated that he had issued instructions to circulate the telegram to all security agencies, including the General Security Directorate, and requested his arrest upon discovery.

The judicial source confirmed that the telegram was also circulated to the countries participating in the Interpol agreement, necessitating his arrest in any location where he is found.

According to the telegram, Hassan is accused of war crimes and genocide, being directly responsible for dropping thousands of tons of barrel bombs on the Syrian people, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians. Information is also being gathered on his military and security aides.
