-
International coalition's sponsorship of Kurdish forces meeting reflects Washington's keenness to strengthen political unity in northeastern Syria

A meeting was held Monday between representatives of the Syrian Kurdish National Council (ENKS) presidency and Syrian Democratic Forces Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi, with participation of international coalition delegates.
The Kurdish National Council's official spokesman in Syria, Faisal Youssef, stated in a press interview that "a meeting was held between the Kurdish National Council and Syrian Democratic Forces Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi to discuss building a unified Kurdish position within the framework of new Syria."
Youssef added that the meeting was held "in the presence of international coalition officials," and participating parties reached agreement on "the importance of continuing to hold meetings continuously to resolve all issues," according to Youssef's confirmation.
This meeting comes amid deep political transformations in the region, as Kurdish forces seek to unite their ranks and strengthen their position in the new Syrian political scene, especially after recent changes in Damascus and escalating Turkish threats to the region.
The importance of rapprochement between SDF and Kurdish National Council emerges at this sensitive stage, where joint coordination represents a strategic necessity to protect the region's gains and enhance its stability in face of increasing challenges.
