Military Escalation in Lebanon: Israeli Army Announces Arrival at the Litani River

Before the anticipated announcement of a ceasefire and amidst increasing military operations and airstrikes in Lebanon, the Israeli army announced today, Tuesday, that its forces have managed to reach the Litani River, located 10 kilometers from the Lebanese border.
The army clarified through tweets on X that units from the Alexandroni Brigade, Brigade 769, as well as Golani and Shaldag forces, have reached the Litani River for the first time since 2000. They also added that they found rocket launch pads and shelters belonging to Hezbollah in this area.
The army claimed that the commander of the 91st Division visited the area personally to inspect it.
This announcement comes at a time when political circles are preparing for the announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon after weeks of military escalation, during which intense airstrikes targeted four sites in the southern suburbs of Beirut, in addition to shelling towns in the south and demolishing homes in the town of al-Qouzah.
Since last September, Israel has witnessed a significant escalation in its attacks targeting various Lebanese regions, especially the southern suburbs, the south, and the Bekaa Valley, where it has struck hundreds of Hezbollah sites and infiltrated several border areas, leading to clashes with party members.
At the same time, the United States continues its efforts through its envoy Amos Hochstein to establish calm and enhance the prospects of achieving a truce between the two parties.
