Next British PM to be revealed at 1130 GMT today
The result of the British Conservative Party leadership contest will be announced at 1130 GMT on Monday, the party said on Friday (Sep 2).
Polls have projected foreign Secretary Liz Truss will beat former finance minister Rishi Sunak to become Britain's next prime minister.
Liz Truss was appointed Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs on 15 September 2021.
She was appointed Minister for Women and Equalities on 10 September 2019. She was elected as the Conservative MP for south west Norfolk in 2010.
Liz studied philosophy, politics and economics at Merton College, Oxford.
She then plans to deliver £30bn in tax cuts through an emergency Budget later this month, arguing the UK's tax burden is behind sluggish growth.
Rishi Sunak was previously appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer from 13 February 2020 to 5 July 2022.
He was previously Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 24 July 2019 to 13 February 2020, and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government from 9 January 2018 to 24 July 2019.
YouGov poll: Only 12 percent expect Liz Truss will be a good prime minister
Rishi went to Winchester College and studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford University. He was also a Fulbright Scholar at Stanford University (USA) where he studied for his MBA.
Mr Sunak announced payments of £15bn as chancellor, including £400 payments for all households, but both contenders have said further support will be required after cost predictions rose further over the summer.
The new PM inherits a flagging economy, with inflation at a 40-year high.
