Tahrir al-Sham accuses Hezbollah of escalation in Idlib and threatens to respond

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham accused the Lebanese Hezbollah of military escalation in Idlib, northern Syria, after targeting the town of Taftanaz in the eastern countryside of the province with Grad missiles, which led to the death of civilians and the injury of eight others.

The Eastern Operations Command of Tahrir al-Sham stated that "the Lebanese Hezbollah militia targeted the town of Taftanaz on Friday evening with Grad missile launchers from one of its mobile positions near the village of Sheikh Ahmed, east of Idlib," which resulted in the death of two people and the injury of others.

In its statement, the organization indicated that "the Taftanaz massacre is part of the approach that the Hezbollah militia has been following for more than a decade in its war against the Syrian people, during which it has committed dozens of massacres." It added: "The Taftanaz massacre will not be the last, as this militia has become accustomed to shedding the blood of our people." The statement also confirmed that the Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham forces responded to the sources of fire, and bombed the positions of the Syrian regime forces and Hezbollah militia in the city of Saraqib and its surroundings, in addition to the village of Sheikh Ahmed and several other locations, using various weapons including missile shelling and long arms.

The statement concluded by saying: "Hezbollah militia, which fears confronting Israel in Lebanon, came to continue its crimes against our people. We assure them that our weapons that defeated them in the past are still in our hands, and news of the killing of their soldiers in the battles of the southern Aleppo countryside continues to reach us."

In a related context, the Syrian Civil Defense Organization confirmed the killing of two civilians, one of whom was a health worker and the other a child, and the injury of eight others, including a mother and five of her children, as a result of artillery shelling launched by the Syrian regime forces on residential neighborhoods in the town of Taftanaz, east of Idlib.
