Intensive Security Campaign in Western Syria to Eradicate Remnants of Assad's Militias

In a move aimed at enhancing security and stability, the Syrian military operations administration launched a wide-scale security operation on Thursday to pursue the remnants of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Tartus Governorate. The official Syrian news agency "SANA" reported that this campaign is part of efforts to maintain security and public order in the region.
The agency explained that the operation is being carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, focusing on tracking down Assad militia elements hiding in the rugged areas and hills surrounding the countryside of Tartus. This action is part of a broader strategy to regain control of the area and ensure its stability.
In a related context, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced a new campaign in the Damascus countryside aimed at confiscating illegal weapons from civilians. The ministry confirmed that clashes occurred with an armed group in the Qudsaya area during the sweeping operations, leading to a curfew being imposed in the area due to the escalating violence.
In another development, the Syrian Ministry of Defense issued a decree granting a four-day period for wanted individuals to surrender themselves along with their weapons, emphasizing the importance of restoring security in neighborhoods affected by unrest. A security cordon has also been enforced around areas that experienced violence.
Earlier, Syrian Interior Minister Mohammad Abdul Rahman reported the deaths of 14 ministry personnel and the injury of 10 others due to an ambush by elements of the former regime while they were fulfilling their security duties in the Tartus countryside. The minister pledged to impose the strictest penalties on anyone attempting to disrupt the security of Syria and the lives of its citizens, expressing the ministry’s determination to achieve stability in the country.
