What is Happening in Jaramana, Syria?

The city of Jaramana, located near Damascus, has witnessed a serious escalation in security conditions, as the religious authority of the Druze community condemned the "unjustified" armed attack that targeted the city on Tuesday. The clashes that occurred overnight resulted in the deaths of four militants amid sectarian tensions.
In its statement, the spiritual body of the Druze Muslim community expressed its strong condemnation of the armed attack, affirming that various types of weapons were used and that it targeted innocent civilians, instilling fear in the hearts of the safe residents.
The authority demanded that the Syrian authorities "assume full responsibility" for the current events, warning against any escalation of the crisis.
According to a security source quoted by "Syria TV," at least two members of the General Security Forces were killed during clashes on Tuesday morning around Jaramana, while no casualties were reported among civilians. The source explained that the security forces were not involved in the conflict but attempted to mediate between irregular groups, resulting in the deaths of two of their personnel.
Activists, for their part, circulated videos on social media showing five dead militants who attacked the city, although no additional details regarding the incident were available.
According to the Syrian Observatory, violent clashes erupted between armed men who stormed neighborhoods in Jaramana and others in the city, following the circulation of an audio recording that insults the Prophet.
The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that it is closely monitoring what has been circulated regarding the offensive audio recording, noting that investigations indicate no connection of the circulating voice to the person who was accused. The ministry added that it is working to identify the voice's owner to arrest him and bring him to justice.
In closing the statement, the Ministry of Interior emphasized the importance of maintaining public order and called on citizens to adhere to regulations and avoid any violations that may disrupt security. It also stressed its commitment to protecting sacred sites and punishing offenders strictly, to warn against any actions that could jeopardize public security.
The statement issued by the Druze religious authority also expressed its rejection of any insults to the Prophet of Islam, confirming that the audio recording is a scheme for sedition aimed at sowing division among the nation’s people.
