250 Families Flee.. Escalating Military Operations Force Civilians to Displace in Idlib and Aleppo
-
The continuous displacement toward Turkish borders reflects the failure of international understandings to protect civilians from Syrian regime escalation
A large wave of displacement has occurred in villages and towns of rural Idlib and Aleppo in northwestern Syria during the past 24 hours, due to the escalation of Syrian regime military operations in the region.
Local sources informed North Press Agency that more than 250 families have been displaced from the villages and towns of Al-Nayrab, Sarmin, Al-Salihiya, Quminas, Maaret al-Naasan, and Taftanaz in eastern Idlib, and Al-Atareb, Taqad, Darat Azza, Al-Abzmo, and Kafr Amma in rural Aleppo.
The sources indicated that displaced people continue to flow toward areas adjacent to the Syrian-Turkish border north of Idlib, and the areas of Afrin and Azaz north of Aleppo, amid harsh living conditions exacerbated by bad weather.
Syrian regime forces launched attacks on the contact lines in rural Idlib and Aleppo using about 190 artillery and rocket shells, resulting in the death of three members of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra), according to military sources.
The military escalation coincides with recurring news about preparations by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and other opposition factions to launch a military operation against Syrian regime forces' positions in rural Idlib and Aleppo.
