Advancements and Casualties in Eastern Idlib: A Continuing Conflict
The Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham and military factions have made significant progress in eastern Idlib countryside, having taken control of the villages of Dadikh and Kafr Bateekh, as well as Sheikh Ali, following intense clashes with regime forces supported by Russian air cover. These villages hold strategic importance due to their proximity to the international M5 highway, with Dadikh and Kafr Bateekh located just 2 kilometers west of the road, near the city of Saraqib.
As part of the military operation launched by the factions under the name "Deterrence of Aggression," additional advances were achieved in western Aleppo, where the factions captured the villages of Kafr Bsin and Arnaz after fierce confrontations with regime forces. During these battles, the factions captured two members of the regime forces, while one member of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham was killed in the clashes.
Simultaneously with the factions' advances, the "Al-Fath al-Mubin" operations room launched an intensive fire preparation targeting regime positions in the city of Saraqib, east of Idlib, in an attempt to cut the regime’s supply lines along the international road.
On the other hand, Russian warplanes intensified their airstrikes, carrying out four airstrikes around the city of Sarmine and four others near the town of Majdaliyya. Several strikes were also launched on the outskirts of the town of Nairab in eastern Idlib. This was accompanied by heavy artillery and rocket shelling that targeted the area since early morning, resulting in injuries to a man and his wife due to ground bombardment in the city of Sarmine.
The number of military casualties in the ongoing fighting over the past 24 hours has risen to 132, comprising 65 from Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, 18 from the "National Army" factions, and 49 from regime forces, including at least four officers of varying ranks.
Thus, the total number of military and civilian casualties has risen to 529 from ground attacks within the "Putin-Erdogan" zone since the beginning of 2024, occurring during 370 incidents that included attacks, sniper operations, clashes, bombardments, and suicide drone strikes. Over 150 military personnel have been injured in the aforementioned operations, including a Turkish soldier, and 257 civilians have sustained varying degrees of injuries, including 13 women and 66 children.
