American and British airstrikes on Sanaa targeted sites belonging to the Houthi group
The Yemeni capital, Sana'a, has come under American and British airstrikes targeting several sites belonging to the Houthi movement. Despite Israel denying any strikes on Yemen, sources from Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath reported that the airstrikes targeted the Al-‘Ardhi Security Complex, the Maintenance Weapons Camp, the Ministry of Defense headquarters, as well as the former First Armored Division camp and the 22 May Complex in the Al-Thawra Directorate.
In a related context, tensions between Israel and the Houthi movement have escalated. The group announced in a statement that it executed two missile attacks on Israel during the night. They also stated that they targeted the American aircraft carrier "USS Harry Truman" with several missiles and drones.
The Houthi statement clarifies that they carried out "two qualitative military operations" in Jaffa and southern Jerusalem with two missiles that achieved their objectives, noting that the first operation targeted Ben Gurion Airport with a hypersonic ballistic missile called Palestine-2.
The statement confirmed that these joint operations were conducted using a large number of drones and cruise missiles while U.S. forces were preparing to launch an air attack on Yemen.
Early Tuesday morning, the Israeli military announced that its air force intercepted a missile launched from Yemen before it could penetrate Israeli territory. Meanwhile, the "Magen David Adom" ambulance service reported that no casualties had been reported so far, although Israel had intercepted a similar missile on Saturday.
Additionally, a correspondent from Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath reported that the Houthi movement launched two ballistic missiles towards central Israel, pointing out that warning sirens sounded in wide areas of the country, and missile debris fell in the "Harrish" area and Beit Shemesh near Jerusalem.
Earlier on Tuesday, U.S. and British aircraft conducted airstrikes on sites in Al-Hudaydah, targeting the locations from which the Houthis had launched missiles in the Al-Tuhayta Directorate, south of Al-Hudaydah. The aircraft continued to fly in the area, carrying out two strikes on sites from which the Houthis had launched missiles toward the sea.
On another note, Russia criticized the airstrikes conducted by Israel and the international coalition in Yemen. Moscow’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, stated that the military actions led by the United States constitute a deliberate escalation.
