Azerbaijani Plane Crashes in Kazakhstan
Reports from the Azerbaijani airline "Azal" revealed on Wednesday that the crash of one of its passenger planes in Kazakhstan may have been due to a collision with a flock of birds.
The reports indicated that preliminary information suggests the plane, an Embraer 190, was on a flight from Baku to Grozny when it was forced to make an emergency landing approximately 3 kilometers from the city of Aktau.
"Azal" responded in a statement published on its page on the X platform, but did not specify the exact causes of the incident.
The Ministry of Emergencies in Kazakhstan announced that the plane crashed while en route from the Azerbaijani capital to the Chechen capital near the city of Aktau in western Kazakhstan.
There were believed to be 67 people on board, including 62 passengers and 5 crew members. Of these, 25 individuals survived and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, according to medical sources.
