Casualty Toll Rises in Mazzah, Damascus Following Israeli Airstrikes

The human casualty toll in the Mazzah neighborhood of Damascus has increased to seven, including three civilians, two members of Iranian-backed militias of non-Syrian nationality, and two unidentified individuals. Additionally, nine others were injured, comprising four civilians and five military personnel due to the Israeli airstrike targeting a residential apartment near the Saraya Square in the Mazzah area of Damascus. Israeli warplanes also targeted a building belonging to a Palestinian organization near the Al-Sahaba Mosque in Qudsaya, located in the Damascus countryside.
Ambulances rushed to the scene, and the Israeli airstrikes caused extensive damage to residential buildings and ignited fires.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Israel has conducted 149 strikes on Syrian territory since the beginning of 2024, with 123 being aerial and 26 ground assaults. These strikes have resulted in the injury and destruction of approximately 267 targets, including weapon and ammunition warehouses, headquarters, and vehicles.
These attacks have led to the deaths of 288 military personnel, with another 250 sustaining various injuries. The fatalities include:
- 25 members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard
- 55 from Hezbollah
- 28 of Iraqi nationality
- 85 from Iranian-affiliated militias of Syrian nationality
- 27 from Iranian-affiliated militias of non-Syrian nationality
- 62 from the Syrian army

- 2 unidentified in the Mazzah neighborhood.
Additionally, 58 civilians have been killed, including nine children and 14 women, due to Israeli strikes, along with approximately 62 others injured. Notably, Iranian businessman Bara Qatirji and his cousin were also killed.
The targeted locations are distributed as follows:
- 53 in Damascus and its countryside

- 48 in Homs
- 16 in Quneitra
- 3 in Tartus
- 5 in Deir ez-Zor
- 3 in Aleppo
- 4 in Hama

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights notes that Israel may target multiple provinces in a single operation, which explains the discrepancy between the number of incidents and the total strikes conducted.
