Demonstration in Kobani to Denounce Crimes Against the Alawite Community

On Tuesday, dozens of residents from the city of Kobani in the far north of the Ain al-Arab area, part of Aleppo, held a popular demonstration to protest the crimes committed against members of the Alawite community in the Syrian coastal region.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights reported that it had documented the deaths of 779 individuals from March 6 until Monday, highlighting the parties considered responsible for these casualties.
According to human rights reports, including a summary from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Alawites have been targeted in killings by forces loyal to the transitional administration, with accusations directed at the "remnants of Bashar al-Assad's regime" for killing at least 383 individuals, including 211 civilians and 172 members of the public security forces affiliated with the transitional administration.
The report indicated that armed forces involved in the military operation against Assad's forces are also responsible for the deaths of about 396 individuals, including civilians and disarmed elements of the "remnants of Assad," according to the organization.
These forces include "military factions, armed local residents (both Syrians and foreigners), and public security elements," as clarified in the Network's report. This rights organization, which has been documenting the list of victims of the Syrian conflict for 14 years, confirmed that most of the fatalities among the armed forces were caused by military factions that recently joined the "Public Security Administration" under the transitional Syrian authorities.
Numerous massacres and executions of civilians in the coastal region have been attributed to the "Hamzat" and "Amesh" factions, which were called upon to support the public security forces from northwestern Syria during the security campaign that concluded on Monday.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights noted in its report on Sunday that the coastal areas of Syria and the Latakia mountains have witnessed "cleansing operations" against the community and regions, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of civilians.
