Escalating Tensions: Israeli Military Operations in Lebanon and Gaza
الضاحية الجنوبية (الجزيرة)

A correspondent for Al Arabiya and Al Hadath reported today, Tuesday, that two airstrikes occurred in the southern suburbs of Beirut, while the World Health Organization confirmed that five hospitals in Lebanon are now out of service.

Prior to this, the Israeli military issued a statement indicating that the 146th Brigade began limited and targeted ground operations against Hezbollah’s targets and infrastructure in the western sector of southern Lebanon on Monday.

Moreover, the Israeli army has declared four areas in the north as closed military zones, prohibiting entry into these regions starting last night.

In Gaza, the Israeli army reported the killing of three Hamas operatives involved in the October 7 attack.

The U.S. Department of State has assessed that the Israeli ground operations in Lebanon remain limited thus far. Additionally, Washington anticipates that Israel will target Hezbollah in Lebanon in a manner that adheres to international humanitarian law and minimizes civilian casualties.

Furthermore, the Israeli army announced that it would soon initiate military operations along the southern Lebanese coast, urging fishermen and sea-goers in the Nahr al-Awali area to stay away from the shoreline until further notice.

The Israeli airstrikes have led to the displacement of 1.2 million people in Lebanon, raising fears of potential devastation similar to that witnessed in Gaza due to the ongoing aerial and ground assaults.

The Israeli military describes its ground operation as "limited and precise," yet its scope has steadily expanded since it commenced last week. The army claims that its objective is to eliminate pockets along the border where Hezbollah militants are hiding, asserting that there are no plans for a deeper incursion into Lebanon.
