The pro-Turkish "Sultan Murad" faction has released a Syrian young man in Sari Kani/Ras al-Ain north of Hasaka, after detaining him for three days and financially extorting his family.

An opposition military source told North Press Agency that faction members arrested the 26-year-old man during his attempt to cross into European territories, indicating that his release came after paying a ransom of two thousand US dollars.

The source explained that the Turkish-affiliated faction's militants released the young man near the M4 international road, allowing him to cross into the Self-Administration areas.

This incident comes amid increasing extortion operations and violations practiced by armed factions in Syrian areas under Turkish influence, especially against civilians seeking migration to escape deteriorating living and security conditions.

The region's residents face escalating humanitarian challenges, where many young people risk their lives in irregular migration journeys, only to find themselves vulnerable to exploitation and extortion by armed groups spread throughout the area.
