تركيا وأمريكا

Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh announced the continuation of communications with Turkey to monitor developments in Syria, emphasizing the "excellent relationship" between the two countries during the daily press briefing.

Singh explained that Turkey is facing threats from within Syrian territory and has the right to take necessary measures to protect itself, according to Anadolu Agency.

She confirmed that the U.S. presence in Syria is primarily focused on combating the "Islamic State" organization, noting ongoing coordination with the Syrian Democratic Forces.

Singh also avoided commenting on Washington's position in the event of escalating clashes between Turkey and extremist groups, as reported by Anadolu Agency.

On another note, Syrian opposition forces took control of the capital Damascus on December 8, ending 61 years of Ba'ath Party rule and 53 years of Assad family governance, according to Anadolu Agency.
