Joint operations in Iraq and Syria reveal high-level coordination between U.S. forces and their allies in counter-terrorism efforts

The U.S. Central Command "CENTCOM" revealed that one coalition forces member was killed and two others from different countries were injured during counter-ISIS operations in Iraq.
CENTCOM stated in its announcement that its forces, in cooperation with partner forces, conducted a series of operations in Iraq and Syria during the period from December 30, 2024, to January 6, 2025.
The operations included multiple strikes in Iraq's Hamrin Mountains, targeting known ISIS positions, with the participation of Iraqi forces and the international coalition.
The confrontations involved the use of F-16, F-15, and A-10 aircraft in airstrikes, where A-10 aircraft successfully eliminated ISIS fighters inside one of the caves.
In Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces, with U.S. support, carried out a successful operation near Deir ez-Zor between January 2 and 3, resulting in the arrest of a leader in an ISIS attack cell.
General Michael Erik Kurilla, commander of U.S. Central Command, emphasized the necessity of joint operations to prevent ISIS from exploiting security changes in the region, stressing that defeating the organization requires a global effort.
Central Command emphasized its continued commitment to pursuing terrorist elements that threaten the region, American citizens, and their allies within the framework of the multinational Operation Inherent Resolve.
