Israeli Airstrikes Target Iranian Car Factory in Homs, Syria
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Sunday that an "Israeli" airstrike targeted an "Iranian car factory" in the Homs area of central Syria, just days after similar airstrikes hit Damascus and the Lebanese-Syrian border.
The Observatory explained that "Israeli warplanes carried out air raids with three missiles, targeting an Iranian car factory within the Husseiya industrial area in southern Homs," resulting in "material damage."
No comment has yet been issued by the Israeli army regarding these airstrikes.
This comes as intensive Israeli airstrikes continue in various areas of Lebanon, particularly in the south, Bekaa Valley, and the southern suburbs of Beirut, causing hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries, including among Syrian refugees.
The Observatory mentioned on Friday that 171 Syrian refugees were killed by Israeli strikes in Lebanon over a span of 12 days, while hundreds were injured, as bombing operations escalate in various parts of Lebanon.
Israel claims it is targeting sites, warehouses, and headquarters of Hezbollah, which is also launching strikes across the border into Israeli territory, while global powers call for a de-escalation of the conflict between the two sides.
The Syrian Observatory condemned these attacks "which target civilians," calling on the international community and humanitarian organizations for "urgent intervention to protect the population, including refugees."
It demanded the establishment of safe corridors for residents to escape from targeted areas, in addition to providing essential humanitarian aid, such as food, medicine, and shelter for affected families.
It noted that the number of deaths among Syrian refugees due to Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon has risen since the start of the strikes in October 2023, reaching 202, including 36 women and 50 children, in addition to dozens of injured.
