Israeli Foreign Minister Calls for NATO to Expel Turkey Amid Erdogan's Threats

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has urged NATO member states to expel Turkey from the alliance following threats by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to "enter Israel" over the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Katz's call came in response to Erdogan's statements and was reported by The Times of Israel.

Katz accused Turkey of aligning with Iran’s “axis of evil” and called on the United States and Western countries to condemn Erdogan and limit his “destructive actions.” Erdogan's comments, made during a meeting of his ruling Justice and Development Party in his hometown of Riza, suggested that Turkey could intervene in Israel similarly to its actions in Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh. However, he did not specify the nature of the intervention he was referring to.

“We must be very strong so that Israel cannot do these ridiculous things to Palestine. Just as we entered Nagorno-Karabakh and Libya, we may do something similar,” Erdogan stated. He emphasized the need for strength to take such steps, saying, "There is no reason why we cannot do this."

The remarks have heightened tensions, prompting Katz to advocate for a decisive response from NATO and its member states.
