Lebanese Government Demands Identification of Those Behind Rocket Attacks on Israel
-
Tensions escalate between Lebanon and Israel after Israeli warnings to Beirut residents, raising concerns about the regional security impact

In a new development on the Lebanese scene, the Lebanese government issued an official statement on Friday confirming that Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has requested Army Commander Rudolf Heikal to identify those responsible for launching rockets at Israel.
The statement emphasized that such actions pose a direct threat to Lebanon’s security and stressed the need to intensify efforts to locate the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
This comes as the Israeli military issued an urgent statement warning residents of Beirut’s southern suburb, particularly in the “Hadath district,” urging them to evacuate buildings allegedly near Hezbollah facilities.
Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee published a map showing targeted areas, claiming that individuals in these buildings should move at least 300 meters away.
Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes flew over the Lebanese capital, heightening fears of military escalation in the region. Additionally, Israel announced airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon earlier this morning.
In response, Hezbollah denied involvement in the rocket attacks, reaffirming its commitment to the ceasefire agreement reached on November 27 under U.S. and French mediation, which had ended hostilities between Lebanon and Israel at the time.
Nevertheless, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz renewed his threats against Lebanon, warning that any further violations could lead to strikes on Beirut. He added, “There will be no calm in Beirut unless the Galilee is quiet.”
