Military Operations Department Launches Security Campaign in Jbourin, Homs Countryside
جهاز الأمن العام

The “Military Operations Department” launched a security campaign in the village of Jbourin in Homs countryside, marking the second operation in less than a week.

The armed personnel fired heavy machine guns in the village, demanding that residents remain calm and stay indoors. During the operation, several civilians and military personnel who had made reconciliations were arrested; some were released while others are under investigation.

On January 16, local gunmen, along with others who identified themselves as members of the Military Operations Department, stormed the villages of Jbourin and Qaniya al-Assi in Homs countryside, terrorizing the residents of those areas. They arrested dozens of former civilians and military personnel who had reconciled, taking them to a location near the al-Assi River and others to Talbisseh and then to an intelligence branch in Homs, leaving their fates uncertain and raising fears of their elimination.

In this context, fierce clashes are reported between the Military Operations Department and remnants of the former regime in the village of al-Ghor al-Gharbi in Homs countryside.

The Military Operations Department announced that it seized an arms depot during the security campaign launched this morning in the western Homs countryside, with the SANA agency publishing photos showing weapons and ammunition, including anti-aircraft missiles.
