The New York Appeals Court dashed the hopes of Elected US President Donald Trump to suspend the expected ruling against him in the "hush money" case, rejecting his legal team's request for a new hearing.

The Appeals Court judge issued a brief ruling rejecting Trump's petition, making the US Supreme Court the last resort for the elected president to attempt preventing the hearing scheduled for tomorrow, Friday.

Trump faces 34 criminal charges related to falsifying business records in a case involving his former lawyer Michael Cohen paying $130,000 to pornographic film actress Stormy Daniels to remain silent about an alleged encounter with Trump, which the latter denies.

Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over Trump's trial and conviction last May, indicated he is not inclined to issue a prison sentence, suggesting unconditional release might be the most realistic option given the proximity of Trump's inauguration.

The elected president denounced the case on his "Truth Social" platform, saying: "It is a fabricated and concocted charge by a corrupt judge who is simply doing the work of the Biden/Harris administration of injustice. They invented a case out of nothing."
