One in three Republicans believe violence may be needed to save United States

The Xinhua reported, The Guardian has said, citing results of a recent survey conducted by U.S. research organization the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) that almost one in three Republicans believe violence may be needed to save the United States.

The Guardian wrote in an article published on Monday, a survey found that 30 percent of Republicans agreed with the statement "because things have gotten so far off track, true American patriots may have to resort to violence in order to save our country."

According to the the British newspaper, the PRRI's survey also found that nearly one in five Americans agreed with the statement.

The newspaper quoted Robert P. Jones, CEO and founder of the PRRI, as saying, the responses illustrate the "significant and rapidly increasing polarisation in the United States."

The Xinhua mentioned that a total of 2,508 adults living in all 50 U.S. states were interviewed online on Sept. 16-29 for the survey, which was released on Monday.
