Opposition Factions Announce Control Over New Areas in Aleppo and Idlib Countryside
**Continuation of Operation "Deterrence of Aggression": Syrian Opposition Forces Strengthen Control in Aleppo and Idlib Countryside**
Syrian opposition factions have announced, on the second day of Operation "Deterrence of Aggression," targeting government forces and Iranian militias, that they have made significant advances by taking control of several new villages and towns in the Aleppo and Idlib countryside.
In a statement issued by the military operations administration, the factions reported that they achieved strategic progress by consolidating their control over areas such as Kafr Naha, the First Engineer's Countryside, and Khan al-Asal, bringing them to the outskirts of the city of Aleppo. The factions have also succeeded in taking control of the village of Yaqud al-Adas in northern Aleppo, in addition to capturing the villages of Kafr Bateekh, Dadikh, and Jobas in Idlib countryside.
This advance has been accompanied by intense clashes and mutual shelling between the opposition and regime forces, exacerbating the situation in the area. This operation is part of the increasing military response from armed factions, which are seeking to regain control over territories they lost in previous years.
Sources indicate that the opposition factions have also managed to recover some military equipment and seize munitions from regime forces, reflecting the newfound momentum exhibited by the opposition in this round of fighting.
This escalation comes at a time when military tensions are rising on the Syrian fronts, where regional and international dimensions play a pivotal role in influencing the course of the conflict. The factions face significant challenges, not only from government forces but also from Iran-aligned militias supporting the Syrian regime in its battles against the opposition.
Amid these volatile conditions, the humanitarian situation in the region remains concerning, with increasing numbers of displaced civilians fleeing combat zones, placing additional pressure on surrounding communities to accommodate these rising numbers. The continuation of hostilities underscores the urgent need for diplomatic efforts to stabilize the situation and achieve sustainable political solutions.
