Syrian Foreign Minister Receives Official Invitation to Visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Monday that the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Syrian interim government, Asaad Al-Shibani, has received an official invitation from his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Al-Shibani stated in his remarks to the agency that he is honored to receive this invitation, saying: "I accept this invitation with love and pleasure, and I am honored to represent my country on this first official visit. We look forward to building strategic relations with our brothers in the Kingdom in all areas."
The Kingdom had issued warnings against Syria sliding into chaos and division, affirming its support for the Syrian people and their choices during these sensitive circumstances.
In a statement from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia confirmed that it is following the rapid developments in Syria, expressing its satisfaction with the positive steps taken to ensure the safety of civilians and to stem the bloodshed, as well as to preserve Syrian state institutions and resources.
The statement added: "While the Kingdom reaffirms its support for the brotherly Syrian people and their choices at this pivotal stage in Syria's history, it calls for concerted efforts to maintain Syria's unity and the cohesion of its people, in order to protect it—from God's will—from slipping into chaos and division."
The Kingdom also reiterated its support for anything that contributes to achieving Syria's security and stability, while preserving its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
