Increasing Numbers of Syrian Refugees Returning from Turkey Indicate Their Optimism About Building New Life in Homeland After Regime's Fall

Syrian refugees' return pace from Turkey to homeland through land crossings accelerated following Bashar al-Assad regime's collapse, with returnees reaching 7,621 Syrians during December 9-13, according to official Turkish statistics.
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerli Kaya stated via "X" platform Sunday that departing Syrians from Turkey "voluntarily, safely, honorably and regularly" before Bashar al-Assad regime's fall recorded 310 on December 6, 176 on December 7, and 240 on December 8.
He explained "after Syria's liberation, 1,259 Syrians returned December 9, 1,669 December 10, 1,293 December 11, 1,553 December 12, and 1,847 December 13." Minister Yerli Kaya reviewed Monday statistics indicating 2,936,000 Syrians under temporary protection in Turkey.
Turkish territory hosted over 3.7 million Syrians since their country's civil war ignition 2011. Worth noting Syrian factions led by "HTS/Nusra Front" seized capital Damascus December 8 and previously other cities, concurrent with Syrian regime forces' retreat from public institutions and streets.
