Three Russian Citizens Arrested in Chad.. Including Maxim Shugaley

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the evening of last Monday that three of its citizens had been arrested in Chad, among whom is "Maxim Shugaley," a former detainee in Libya.

In 2019, Shugaley was arrested in Libya on charges of espionage, which led to him being imprisoned for nearly 18 months.

Regarding the details of his arrest, Khaled al-Meshri, the President of the Higher State Council at the time, stated that the arrest was based on intelligence information from a foreign country that was provided to the Ministry of Interior and the Public Prosecutor's Office, which was presumed to be the United States.

For its part, the Ministry of Interior in the Government of National Accord stated at the time that the arrest was carried out by the Public Prosecutor's Office, which had full information about Shugaley's movements, and that it was he who ordered the arrest of Shugaley and his assistant, confirming that they did not have sufficient information about the arrest operation.
