Unknown Gunmen Attack Police Headquarters in Al-Suwayda Amid Rising Violence
Unknown assailants launched an armed attack early this morning on the police headquarters building in Al-Suwayda, resulting in armed clashes between the attacking gunmen and police officers. The incident caused material damage to several nearby shops, with no reports of human casualties at this time.
The attack occurred just hours after an assassination attempt on the leader of the “Free Mountain” group in the city. Unknown gunmen opened fire on him while he was driving with his companion near the government hospital, injuring him with a gunshot to the back, after which he was taken to the hospital for surgery. His companion sustained a gunshot wound to the head, and a civilian was also injured while passing by the scene.
Earlier, on November 2, a young man in his twenties, hailing from the village of Labin in the Al-Suwayda countryside, was killed during armed clashes that erupted at the pilgrimage road junction west of Al-Suwayda city, where he was shot multiple times.
