Abbas Advisor: Gaza Committee Under PA Supervision Without Hamas Participation

Committee formation details reveal plans to restructure Gaza administration under Palestinian Authority umbrella away from armed factions
New details emerged about the planned "Community Support" committee for managing the Gaza Strip, through statements by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Habbash, Palestinian President's advisor for religious affairs.
In an interview with "Al-Arabiya.net" and "Al-Hadath.net," Al-Habbash highlighted that proposing the committee aims to overcome the current situation and find new mechanisms for managing the sector.
The presidential advisor emphasized that the decision to form the committee will be issued by President Mahmoud Abbas, with it being under Palestinian government supervision and implementing its programs in reconstruction and aid management files.
The Palestinian official denied any specific names being proposed so far, explaining that the committee will include national competencies chosen by the President without external interventions, excluding Hamas elements' participation.
Al-Habbash confirmed the committee's budget and management would be under government control and Palestinian Authority supervision, denying circulating news about intentions for a ministerial reshuffle.
These details were revealed after an Egyptian security source announced last Saturday that Fatah and Hamas movements showed flexibility and positivity towards forming the committee during Cairo discussions.
These developments coincided with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's arrival in Egypt to participate in the World Urban Forum and meet his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to discuss efforts to stop the war and establish the Palestinian state.
