Perpetrators' Actions Reveal Widespread Violence Culture and Taking Law into Own Hands Amid Absence of Effective Judicial Authority Protecting Citizens

Daughter of Syrian actor Abdel Moneim Omayri, ex-husband of artist Amal Arafa, unveiled details of the violent assault her father experienced in Damascus streets.
Via Instagram, she detailed the incident, questioning: "Is this a free country? Where's freedom if someone beats my father before my eyes and leaves him unconscious on the ground! Is this the trust in building a new country, beating and kicking him ruthlessly! Congratulations indeed."
She condemned the absence of law and ethics, asking: "Does your religion allow you to raise your hand and weapon against someone your father's age? Where are the ethics in beating a man to unconsciousness?"
The daughter revealed her father underwent two surgeries in the liver and gallbladder, explaining he had been recovering and was prohibited from lifting heavy objects or approaching certain areas, yet was brutally kicked.
Social media circulated a video of Omayri's daughter condemning the assault, emphasizing law as the sole path for accountability.
Local correspondents reported the actor was beaten by armed individuals who intercepted him while driving in Damascus, with activists indicating the assault's motive was a verbal altercation.
