Early Voting Surge Ahead of U.S. Presidential Election

Despite the official date for the U.S. presidential election being next Tuesday, millions of Americans have already cast their votes. According to the latest figures released on Friday, 70 million Americans have voted so far.
The BBC noted that American voting habits have changed due to the pandemic. The total number of early votes this year is significantly lower than the 101.5 million early votes cast in 2020, when the COVID-19 virus kept many voters away from crowded polling places. However, it exceeds the total early votes cast in 2016 (47.2 million) and 2012 (46.2 million).
