A high-ranking Israeli security source revealed notable progress in Gaza hostage negotiations, confirming that the agreement is "closer than ever" due to intensive military operations against Hamas.

The official stated to the "Jerusalem Post" that the movement "is under enormous pressure and can no longer coordinate with Lebanese Hezbollah, which is increasing its involvement in the war, nor with Iran, which faces its own problems."

The news report reviewed indicators of Hamas's flexibility in negotiations, particularly its retreat from requiring a complete halt to military operations, with the possibility of its leadership relocating to Turkey.

The Israeli official indicated the possibility of reaching a gradual agreement within weeks, based on talks with mediators in Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, conditioning the return of Palestinians to the northern Gaza Strip.

The report quoted Southern Command chief Yaron Finkelman and military division commanders informing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz about the imminent collapse of the Jabalia area in northern Gaza.

The source explained that the negotiations' focus doesn't include a permanent end to the war, but rather centers on a temporary truce to implement the agreement, noting that the Philadelphia Corridor border crossing with Egypt is not a central issue in ongoing discussions.
