Pelosi Blames Biden for Democratic Defeat in 2024 Election

Democratic Party member Nancy Pelosi has held President Joe Biden responsible for the party’s defeat, along with Kamala Harris, in the presidential elections against her fierce rival, Donald Trump.

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi stated that Biden's delay in announcing his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election cost the Democrats dearly, just days after Kamala Harris's defeat by Donald Trump.

In an interview on The New York Times’ "The Interview" podcast, Pelosi remarked, "We are living with what happened." She elaborated, "Had President Biden entered the race sooner, there may have been other candidates in the running. The expectation was that if the president stepped aside, there would be an open primary."

Pelosi added, "And as I said, perhaps Kamala would have succeeded and been stronger moving forward. But we don’t know that. That didn't happen. We are living with what occurred... And because the president endorsed Kamala Harris right away, it made it almost impossible to have primaries at that time. If it had been much earlier, things would have been different."

The New York Times noted that Pelosi "did her utmost to defend the legislative achievements of the Biden Administration, most of which occurred during his first two years when she was Speaker of the House." It is reported that Pelosi played a significant role in persuading Biden to step aside, yet she did not seek to soothe his feelings.

Last August, Pelosi told The New Yorker that she "was never impressed by his political work."

Additionally, it is noteworthy that Pelosi has frequently referred to Trump with peculiar nicknames, such as "The Bozo," "Snake Oil Salesman," or simply "What’s-His-Name," and "The Black Lagoon Creature."

Pelosi once emphatically stated, while banging on the table, "How can I say this as kindly as possible: My life's goal is to ensure that this man (Trump) never sets foot in the White House again."
