Random Arrest Campaign Against Afrin Displaced Reveals Syrian Regime's Continued Violation of Displaced Persons' Rights and Exploitation of their Humanitarian Suffering
Syrian regime security forces launched an arbitrary arrest campaign targeting three displaced persons from Afrin in Aleppo in recent days, amid complete silence about the reasons for their arrest and fate.
State Security elements kidnapped the first displaced person on November 13 at the Al-Awarid checkpoint in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo city while passing through the area.
Regime forces arrested the second displaced person on November 15 during his visit to Aleppo University Hospital for treatment, noting he is the sole provider for his children.
The arrest operations targeted a third displaced person, aged 50, at the Leiramon checkpoint about ten days ago. He is among Afrin countryside's displaced residents living in Shahba camps.
Sources recorded the transfer of the three detainees to the State Security branch in Aleppo, amid their families' appeals to reveal their fate and detention location.
Local sources revealed the release of one Afrin displaced person who was arrested last September near Homs while trying to return to his city, after his family paid a bribe of 2,500 US dollars.
