SDF declares general mobilization after attack on Tal Rifaat
The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced a general mobilization on Sunday following a major attack launched by Turkish-backed Syrian opposition factions on the city of Tal Rifaat, north of Aleppo.
In a statement published by the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria on their official Facebook page, they stated:
"First, we condemn and strongly denounce the attack being carried out by the Turkish state and its mercenaries on Syrian territory, and we salute the historical resistance shown by our people in Aleppo and Shahba.
This attack led by the Turkish state represents a continuation of the plan that Turkey failed to achieve through ISIS, with the goal of occupying Syria and realizing the boundaries of the 'National Pact' that the Turkish state has repeatedly sought to implement.
This aggression aims to occupy and divide Syria, transforming it into a hotspot of international terrorism. The attack that began in Aleppo and Hama is not limited to a specific area, but threatens all of Syria.
Therefore, we call on all our people in the North and East Syria region to recognize that one of the objectives of this aggression is to eliminate the hopes of Syrians for living in freedom and dignity, targeting the project of Democratic Autonomous Administration, and attempting to annex new territories to Turkey.
As Arabs, Kurds, Syriacs-Assyrians, and Turkmen, we must unite and strengthen our solidarity to confront this blatant aggression, and we call on our youth to rally around the Syrian Democratic Forces.
We announce a phase of general mobilization and urge our people to remain in a state of constant readiness.
Moreover, all our institutions must remain operational, in a state of complete alert, and each institution should function as a crisis cell to address the challenges stemming from this aggression.
We appeal to the international community to halt this aggression that will lead to major humanitarian disasters, as it represents a threat not only to Syria but is a new form of ISIS-style terrorism that will have serious regional and global repercussions.
It is worth noting that the opposition factions are launching the heaviest attack of its kind on the city of Tal Rifaat, where the Syrian Democratic Forces have been stationed for more than five years."
