Targeting Civilian Peaceful Convoys Reveals Deliberate Turkish Policy to Terrorize Civilians and Displace Them from Their Regions in Northeast Syria
Six civilians were killed and several wounded after Turkish drones and artillery targeted a peaceful protest convoy heading to Tishrin Dam to demand a halt to the Turkish aggression on vital facilities.
The Syrian Observatory reported that Turkish forces deliberately struck two civilian vehicles approximately 100 meters from the convoy supporting Syrian Democratic Forces, in an attempt to obstruct protesters' advance towards the dam.
The sources indicated the protest march included thousands of civilian vehicles from Kobani, Tabqa, Raqqa, Qamishli, and Hasakah regions.
These attacks fall within the systematic Turkish escalation on land and air against strategic locations, amid concerns about deteriorating humanitarian and security conditions, with continued shelling of civilian convoys expressing rejection of Turkish intervention and ongoing attacks.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented Turkish forces targeting the artillery-shelled area around the vehicle convoy supporting Syrian Democratic Forces as it approached Tishrin Dam east of Aleppo, to prevent protesters' advance and force their retreat.
