Widespread Controversy Over Uzbek Fighter Discussing the Syrian Revolution
A recently circulated video on social media has sparked widespread debate among many Syrians, featuring a foreign fighter of Uzbek nationality speaking from inside a mosque about the values and goals of the Syrian revolution.
In the video, the fighter stated that he came to support the people of Damascus in response to a call, explaining that he volunteered with a group of fighters after traveling thousands of kilometers. He mentioned that while they were in the city of Idlib, they faced numerous airstrikes carried out by the Syrian regime, witnessing the suffering of thousands of families from Idlib.
He continued, saying: "Today, we live with the noble people of Damascus and celebrate with them the joys of the victories achieved after liberating many Syrian cities from the grip of Bashar Al-Assad's regime." The fighter emphasized that he fought alongside the Syrians against Iranian and Russian forces until victory was achieved.
As soon as the video circulated, discussions ignited across various social media platforms. A significant number of users considered the presence of foreign fighters in the Syrian conflict unacceptable, calling for the Uzbek fighter and his counterparts to return to their home countries. They expressed a sentiment that they do not need outside interference in their affairs, stressing that Syrians are more qualified to solve their problems and resist occupation.
One user on the platform "X" commented: "Palestine is closer to you now than anywhere else."
On the other hand, the video continues to open the floor for discussion regarding the role of foreign fighters in conflicts and whether their participation contributes to achieving the goals of the revolution or complicates matters further. With supporters and opponents, the future of the Syrian revolution remains a complicated issue involving numerous internal and external factors.
